CORONAVIRUS continues to spread across the globe, with hundreds of cases in the UK.

And Man City vs Real Madrid and Juventus vs Lyon are the latest events to fall victim to the pandemic, while Arsenal's Mikel Arteta and Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi have tested positive.

Chelsea have confirmed that Callum Hudson-Odoi has tested positive for coronavirus. A club statement just released says: “Chelsea men’s team player Callum Hudson-Odoi had a positive test result for coronavirus returned this evening.

“Chelsea personnel who had recent close contact with the player in the men’s team building will now self-isolate in line with Government health guidelines.

“These will include initially the full men’s team squad, coaching staff and a number of backroom staff.

“It is expected that those who did not have close contact with Callum will return to work in the coming days.

“In the meantime, the men’s team building, one of several separate buildings at our training ground, will remain closed.

“The rest of our training facility, Stamford Bridge and our other facilities are operating as normal.

“Callum displayed symptoms similar to a mild cold on Monday morning and has not been at the training ground since then as a precaution.

“However, his test came in positive this evening and he will undergo a period of self-isolation.

“Despite testing positive for the virus, Callum is doing well and looking forward to returning to the training ground as soon as it is possible.

“We will continue to adhere to Government and Public Health Guidelines with regard to our facilities and staff and will be discussing next steps with regards to upcoming fixtures with the Premier League on Friday morning.

“We will provide further updates as necessary via the club’s website.

“We wish Callum a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the club soon.”

Brighton have announced that their game with Arsenal on Saturday has been POSTPONED in light of Mikel Arteta testing positive for coronavirus.

The fixture is the first game of the weekend to be called off.

Premier League chiefs are set for an emergency meeting on Friday morning to decide whether the rest of the fixtures will be played.

A statement read: “In light of the news that broke earlier on Thursday evening concerning Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta and his first-team squad, we can confirm that Saturday’s match against Arsenal has now been postponed.

Arsenal confirmed on Thursday night that their head coach has tested positive for the coronavirus, and that their entire first-team squad are now self-isolating.

Chief executive Paul Barber commented, “First and foremost our thoughts are with Mikel Arteta and we wish him a speedy recovery.

“It’s absolutely essential the health and wellbeing of individuals takes priority and with that in mind Saturday’s match has been postponed.

“We apologise to all fans for any inconvenience but trust everyone will understand that we are all facing an unprecedented situation.

“The Premier League has announced this evening that they will convene an emergency meeting of all clubs tomorrow morning, and we will update supporters on future fixtures as and when we are in a position to do so.”
