Reason why Emery want Ozil out and Alvaro Morata to join the Spanish club.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have begun talks over a possible deal for Alvaro Morata to join the Spanish club.

Atletico have made an approach for Morata after much speculation over the future of the Blues striker, who has also been linked with the likes of AC Milan, Barcelona and Sevilla.

Morata has struggled since a big-money move to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017.

He could now return to Madrid, paving the way for Maurizio Sarri to bring in a striker.

Chelsea head coach Sarri wants a forward during this month’s transfer window and in recent weeks has deployed Eden Hazard as a ‘false number nine’ rather than select Morata or Olivier Giroud.

Sarri is keen for Chelsea to sign Gonzalo Higuain, who played under him at Napoli and is currently on a season-long loan at AC Milan from Juventus.
EMERY WANTS OZIL OUT

Arsenal have a similar problem to Atletico. Given the current state of their finances, the Gunners are only prepared to recruit players on loan, and even then, Unai Emery has his hands tied.

There is said to be an agreement in place to sign Denis Suarez from Barcelona on a temporary deal but Barca are insisting on a loan-to-buy arrangement, whereas Arsenal aren’t willing to make that commitment.

So, according to the Daily Mail, Emery wants to sell Mesut Ozil this month to free up some cash. The £350,000-a-week star was left out of the matchday squad entirely at West Ham, which was said to be a pointed message to the board that he is dispensable.

However, Arsenal have yet to receive any credible interest in Ozil, with potential suitors wary of his huge salary. Given Ozil has two and a half years remaining on that contract, it seems a resolution is unlikely any time soon.
