WELBECK INJURY CAN OPEN DOOR FOR NKETIAH :EMERY

Unai Emery says that it’s too soon to talk about the January transfer window in relation to the injury suffered by Danny Welbeck, and that he’s got his eye on an ‘internal solution’ the gap that the England international will leave in the squad.

It’s expected that the 27 year old will out for some time following the ‘significant ankle injury‘ he sustained against Sporting on Thursday night, but rather than immediately think about spending money the Spaniard is considering filling the gap from within.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Wolves, he said, “The first is to look inside.
“We have one striker who is working well in the Under 23s and improving also in Eddie Nketiah,” he said.

“He can have chances, it’s too early to speak about the possibility of January.”

Nektiah was set to come on against Sporting for what would have been his first appearance of the season, but an injury to Stephan Lichtsteiner forced a rethink and Ainsley Maitland-Niles was introduced instead.

The 18 year old could get the nod against Vorskla later this month as the Gunners league schedule demands rotation with games against Sp*rs and Man Utd in quick succession.
