Premier League
                               15:00

        Venue: Emirates Stadium

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head
  • Arsenal could win five consecutive league matches against Aston Villa for the first time.
  • The Gunners have lost only three of their last 34 league meetings between the sides (W22, D9, L3).
  • Nonetheless, those three Villa wins were all at the Emirates Stadium, most recently on the opening day of the 2013-14 season. Only Chelsea, with four wins, have been more successful at the stadium.
Arsenal
  • The Gunners are unbeaten in nine league games - although they have drawn five of them.
  • They have secured a 19th consecutive year of Champions League football and could still finish as high as second for the first time since 2005.
  • Arsenal have won their final league match of the season in seven of the last eight years, drawing the other at Fulham in 2010-11.
  • Leading scorer Olivier Giroud scored his first goal in 16 league games last Sunday. He has scored in each of his last five appearances against Villa in all competitions.
  • Alexis Sanchez has scored six goals in his last seven Premier League games.
Aston Villa
  • Villa avoided a club record 12th successive league defeat by drawing 0-0 against Newcastle last week.
  • They have not won an away game in any competition since the opening day of the season at Bournemouth, taking three points from the subsequent 17 league matches (D3, L14).
  • Only Derby County, in 2007-08, have won fewer matches in a top-flight season than Villa's current tally of three. They have led in just eight league games this season.
  • Villa are the only team in the Premier League not to have scored more than two goals in a match in 2015-16.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere scored on his last Premier League start against West Brom a year ago

TEAM NEWS

Midfielder Jack Wilshere could make his first start for Arsenal since the final day of last season as he steps up his fitness after a broken leg.
Mesut Ozil is likely to play after missing out with a hip injury last weekend, but Danny Welbeck is out for nine months after having knee surgery.
Aston Villa full-back Aly Cissokho is available after a ban and Rudy Gestede may return from a groin injury.
Alan Hutton and Ciaran Clark are doubts with respective calf and ankle issues.

Louis van Gaal has won 52 of his 101 matches in charge of Manchester United

Louis van Gaal
Louis van Gaal thinks he will still be Manchester United manager next season.
The Dutchman has not been given any assurance on his future but he expects to be serving the final season of a three-year contract he signed in 2014.
He said: "I have said I shall be here, that is my opinion, so the board has to decide if it is like that."
Van Gaal has been under intense pressure since December and former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is known to have spoken with United officials.
United, who announced record third quarter results on Friday and said they expect overall revenue to pass £500m for the year, know they will miss out on the Champions League for the second time in three seasons if Manchester City avoid defeat in their final game at Swansea on Sunday.
With a place in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace on 21 May already assured, Van Gaal says taking the battle for a top four place to the final game represents some degree of success.
"We can win the FA Cup," he said. "And we are still in the race. How many teams can say that? Not many. Our aim was to qualify. Of course you can say Manchester United need to be champions, yes I know the expectations are like that but I don't think that is realistic."
Van Gaal repeated his assertion that the media "sacked" him six months ago.
And whether he stays or not, Van Gaal has already been heavily involved in planning for the 2016-17 campaign, reducing the club's pre-season tour to six full days and two matches in China.
He also knows the area he needs to strengthen, having backed out of a potential deal for Renato Sanches, who joined Bayern Munich from Benfica on Tuesday.
"I don't think we have to improve too much," he said. "But we need fast, creative players in attack. That is what I said before this season."
