Newcastle’s move ahead Of arsenal of signing Almiron – Where’s The Ambition?

The Mail is reporting today that Newcastle have bid £17M for Miguel Almiron, but that’s £8M below the price Atlanta are asking for one of their top players.

And we heard yesterday that the other sticking point is again the money – with the player wanting £100K/week.

But the report in the Mail is that the player’s agent Daniel Campos has agreed to Almiron’s wages with Newcastle, but that two other Premier League clubs are interested.

This seems a typical case of the way Newcastle do their business in the transfer market.

They labor to meet the financial requirements of the transfer and then, probably at the end of the month in this case, another club comes in and signs the player.

The way Newcastle drag out transfer negotiations is quite pathetic.

Since Almiron is Rafa’s number one priority this month, he will not be too impressed with the way Newcastle are doing their business.

This could also be the last transfer window that Rafa will be the Newcastle manager.

While Newcastle are said to be Almiron’s preferred club, there are other clubs from different countries said to be interested in signing the Paraguayan International.
Here’s what Campos has said to radio stations in Paraguay:

“There are two to three clubs in England that have interest but we have not advanced much.”

“With Newcastle, I spoke about the player’s salary, but the club needs to raise their offers with Atlanta if they want to get the player.”

“If Newcastle raises their offers, they could be one of the clubs to sign Almiron, but there are other clubs.”

“There are clubs from England, Germany, Italy, and Spain that are interested in Miguel Almiron, but we aren’t going to rush things.”
